Disgraced former NFL player Chad Johnson files divorce from Evelyn Lozada, one month after 'headbutting' drama

Last week he was set on winning his wife Evelyn Lozada back after she filed for divorce last month.

But disgraced former NFL player Chad Johnson has finally accepted his marriage to the 36-year-old reality star is 'irretrievably broken,' and yesterday he filed divorce documents of his own.

According to TMZ, the 34-year-old wide receiver expects Evelyn to pay her own legal fees, citing a provision in the prenup where both sides agreed to pay their own way if they were to split up.

Lozada filed for divorce on August 14, a little more than a month after their wedding, after an alleged headbutting incident occurred when she confronted Johnson with a receipt for a box of condoms.

The incident that led to his arrest for misdemeanor battery and Evelyn receiving stitches.

Within 48 hours of his arrest, the former Dancing with the Stars contestant was fired by the Miami Dolphins.

Chad plead not guilty today in Florida's Broward County Court and according to ABC News, he could face up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted on October 31 - a scary Halloween indeed.

Despite the innocent plea, the avid Twitter enthusiast posted a number of responses to fans today seemingly taking responsibility for his recent troubles.

And in response to a post attacking his soon-to-be-ex-wife, the athlete wrote, 'Chad f**ked up not Eve...'

Just last week the father-of-four desperately tried to win Evelyn back - publicly wearing his wedding ring and an 'I just want to love you' shirt, and posting a picture of his new leg tattoo bearing her face and name.

The Basketball Wives star told Nightline last month that she believed Chad loved her, but he needs to get help.
