Mark your calendars, Smiley Crew, for summer 2013.That
seems to be when your heroine Miley
Cyrus is planning
to wed her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth. News of the couple’s engagement broke
this week, and now, the teen queen is said to be brainstorming about every
detail surrounding her big day. A source who is a friend of the teen told Hollywood Life, “Nothing has been definite yet. She’s just
pretty much brainstorming everything about her wedding. I know she wants to
have a summer wedding, something on the water maybe.” Since summer 2012 becomes official on June 21, we doubt
Miley is planning for this year. It’s likely she’ll swap vows with her ‘Hunger
Games’ hunk in 2013, so she can execute everything perfectly for a dream
wedding. The first item on the agenda? The wedding colors. “They’ve already
been talking about but I haven’t asked her what if any color or theme they’re
planning. I figure I’d just let her tell me when she’s ready. But all of us
[her friends] are here to support her with whatever she needs,” the friend
said. Furthermore,, “it’s totally going to be something not
ordinary. That’s Miley for you,” the insider said. “It will be something
completely different than normal but appropriate for she and Liam.” Miley’s mom Tish is very involved in the process and the
details, too, saying, “Her parents are excited and really, really supportive of
them. I know Tish wants to be part of the planning and it wouldn’t surprise me
if she’s already begun planning certain things. But Miley hasn’t nailed
anything down in stone yet.”
Katy Perry
told British talk show host Graham Norton she got through her separation from
ex-husband Russell Brand by focusing on her music and live performances for her
fans. As reported by The Huffington Post, Perry said, “I love being on stage and
even though I went through some pretty tough times last year, I had to separate
that because I know my problems are my problems and they are not the audience’s
problems. They are here to see a show and to be entertained, so I got on that
lift, put a smile on my face and went up (on stage) with my t–s spinning!” Perry’s marriage to Brand lasted less than two years, and
her performance
of ‘Part Of Me’ at the Grammys seemed to be directed at him, even though
she says the song was written well before the couple split. Video clip of Perry chatting about Brand on the show hasn’t
surfaced online yet, but one clip has been released showing Perry and Cheryl Cole discussing singing
competition shows and Simon
Cowell in particular. Perry said she would consider being a judge on a
program like that someday, but not right now. “I’m busy!” she declared. “I’m
very flattered, but there’s a lot of those types of shows, so you have to be
careful with the one that you associate yourself with.” The show is scheduled to air on BBC America next weekend,
June 16. The film ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me’ arrives on July 5.
Raise your hand if you knew that it has been ten (yes,
ten!) years since Matchbox Twenty released an album. Now that we’ve established
that Matchbox Twenty probably haven’t been on your radar, the band is back to
discuss their new single ‘She’s So Mean’ off of their upcoming album ‘North’ in
a webisode! The song is about “the wrong kind of girls that we’ve
probably all dated,” so says frontman Rob Thomas in an interview with Billboard. “Luckily, you have single friends
who are making really bad decisions, so you can draw on their experiences,” he
continues. But perhaps what’s best about this single is that it’s reminiscent
of the ’90s Matchbox
Twenty we grew to love, and we’re clearly still obsessed with that decade. Tune in below to catch the band working on the track at a
kitchen table. Melodies and lyrics are not easy, and it’s pretty interesting to
see the band’s collaborative process. “What I want is for this Matchbox record to be f—ing
great,” Thomas says. It sure sounds like it’s on its way there. The new single
‘She’s So Mean’ will be available on June 12. You can hear a snippet of it at
the end of the video, and it’s as catchy as anything they’ve ever done!
Remember when Taylor Swift was spotted
out with the Foster the
People frontman Mark Foster? The world figured the duo were out on a date,
but it turns out it was actually a business lunch. Maybe Foster was worried if
he dated T-Swizzle that she’d write a whiny
song about him later (eh, John
Mayer?). In any case, they came up with a song together over the meal!Fuse
chatted up Foster at Bonnaroo, where he dished on a potential duet with the
country cutie. “We actually wrote a song that day,” Foster said. “It’s a
really cool song. We kind of just went into it casually, like, ‘Yeah, let’s
just jam, let’s just have fun,’” he added, “and something really cool came out
of it.”
So where and when can we hear the track? Foster’s not too
sure just yet. “We’ll see what happens with it,” he told Fuse. “She’s been
writing a lot for her next record, but yeah — it was a lot of fun working with
her. She’s super talented.” Indeed she is — she even taught her pal Zac Efron how to
play Foster’s hit ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ back in February when she appeared
on ‘Ellen.’ While Swift is hard at work writing for her new record,
Foster and Co. are busy prepping
their own release as well. “We’ve just been kind of throwing everything against the
wall, idea-wise, like, ‘We should try this and we should try this,’ all these
different boundaries to work within, because sometimes it can be really
daunting I think, if you don’t have certain boundaries when writing a song,”
Foster said in December. “There’s definitely musical elements that we’ve talked
about,” he continued. “You know, really leaning on the percussive nature of
what our live show has turned into this year, and bringing that more out into
the second record — just kind of experimenting, doing some different, weird
studio tricks; just having fun with it. But you never really know until you get
under the hood, so we’ll see what happens when we start.”
Frank Ocean‘s
shoes are pretty big for anyone to fill, but if anyone could do justice to ‘No
Church in the Wild,’ it’s Jay-Z‘s
own protege, Rita Ora. The
Albanian-born songbird performed an acoustic cover of Jay and Kanye West‘s hit from ‘Watch the
Throne,’ giving it a brand new spin. Ora’s smoky voice gives the rap verses a more melodic edge,
while her strong vocals are a jarring but beautiful contrast to Ocean’s soft
and understated choruses on Radio 1′s Live Lounge. Her pretty-yet-gritty voice
takes the track from a dark one to a song with an almost romantic tone. This isn’t Ora’s first cover. She previously performed
a song by Jay-Z’s wife Beyonce‘s
former girl group Destiny’s Child — and it was one of the first times Jigga saw
her sing live. “The first time I truly saw her on stage was at the Cartier
event in New York City,” he recalls. “To have that sort of stage presence and
that sort of energy — the music went off and she still was like — she still
wanted to go. She jumped off the stage at one point and was dancing with the
crowd. It was a great moment.” Listen to Ora’s awesome cover below. Do you like it as much
as the original? Tell us in the comments!
